Equal opportunitiesWe will promote the project to beneficiaries at the three locations by the following well-proven methods of attracting families into family learning sessions:
1. Visiting primary schools near each location to issue invitations to families via their children.
2. Putting up banners promoting the Family Building Club.
3. Putting up posters in local community venues (eg doctors, leisure centres).
4. Asking local community organisations to promote the Family Building Club.
5. Encouraging word of mouth recommendations.
6. Setting up a website to promote the Family Building Club.
7. Issuing press releases to local press and radio.
We will endeavour to ensure that we:
a. Attract equal numbers of males and females, both adults and children. This is very difficult to achieve in family learning, as usually at least 80% of adults are female. However, we believe using Buildings as a theme will help to attract more fathers, grandfathers and other male family adults.
b. Attract representative numbers of families from different ethnic minorities. We will liaise with local community organisations to help us achieve this.
c. Ensure ease of access for family members with disabilities, and ensure that we plan the activities so that as far as possible they can be completed by people with disabilities.
d. Meet the requirements of family members whose first language is not English (eg Welsh or Polish). This will be achieved by appointing for preference staff who speak Welsh and/or a relevant foreign language, and liaising closely with local community organisations who may have Welsh speakers and speakers of other languages available.
